Cocktails + French Fries | GOLDIE’S, ep.1

Goldie's | Lake Highland's | Dallas

Cocktails + French Fries

If you can snag a seat at the bar at Goldie’s, take it.

This intimate Lake Highlands neighborhood spot feels like a richly toned jewel box - low lighting, polished service, and just enough buzz to make it feel special without ever being overdone. After just a few visits, they start to recognize you. That kind of place.

Christopher, the Maître D’, sets the tone immediately - gracious, smooth, and completely in command of the room. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a quick exchange with Matt, the manager. Polished on first impression but stay long enough and the conversation might turn delightfully blush-worthy. Perfect for a girls’ night out.

What to Drink

The signature cocktails get rave reviews, but I’m loyal to my Old Fashioned with a splash of Luxardo cherry syrup. They make it perfectly. And if it’s that kind of evening, ask about the single label of port they keep tucked behind the bar. It’s divine.

Happy Hour runs Tuesday–Friday from 4–6 with meaningful discounts on cocktails, wines by the glass, and select small bites.

The “Fries”

As of this entry, these are easily in my top three fries in Dallas.

Hand-cut, fat but not too fat. Crisp almost to the point of flaky on the outside, soft and creamy inside. Whole garlic cloves and fresh rosemary go into the fryer with the potatoes, finished with Maldon salt. Ask for the special dipping sauce. Don’t skip it.

I’m thinking about them right now.

Anything I’d Change

I wish they stayed open a little later for that last stop before calling it a night. And skip the side dining room - the bar or main dining room is the move.

Can you stay awhile and talk about real life? Absolutely.
Works for date night? Yes.
Family-friendly? Depends.
Big group dinner? Not the move.

Goldie’s is self-care disguised as dinner. And bonus - it’s close to home.
